Would You Rather...Country Music or Hip Hop

Hey yall. How it do? It's your girl Carlene here with some shenanigan behavior. In my last blog, I posted that I will be pulling from a certain prompt book pertaining to knowing all about me. This week I am pulling a prompt from 3001 Would You RATHER Questions. I have challenged myself to go through every question, regardless if its silly or not, or relevant pertaining to my life or not. What you don't know is, this helps me to think creativitely about the stories I will create. Have you ever wondered how they're created?

Sometimes, prompts are the push for the best stories you will ever read...both fiction and nonfiction. It allows you to create an entire world around the question or statement. If you ever want to dive into writing or get writers block, using prompts will help you to loosen your creative juices flowing. Try it out. There are tons of prompts you can pull from over the internet or you can use AI Chat GPT to generate some for you.

So with that being said, let's dive into this weeks prompt. "Would I rather listen to one country song per day or nothing but hip-hop for three weeks? Before I answer, I will give you a small snippet of my family history. Here it goes...my family is musically incline. That means I have been and is subject to listen to all genres at various times depending on the mood. My family is Christian faith-based so you know already that Gospel music was always and will forever be the forefront of my playlist. However, I'm drawn to play music based off my mood and need of the day.

My favorite genres are: Gospel (Traditional and Non-Traditional), Soft Rock, Jazz, R&B 80s & 90s, Country, Neo Soul, and Soft R&B. I don't know if you all have heard of this genre of music - Lofi music. I've grown to love it. It helps me when I'm studying, cleaning, or relaxing. Lofi music was introduced to me through my daughter. I found her listening to it as she studied. It set the mood and atmosphere - I embraced it. You should look into it and let me know what you think.

Ok, now for my answer to this question. My answer to this prompt is, I'll play one country song per day for three weeks. Country music is cool. Remember I said it will depend on my mood and need of the day. I'm thankful for Gospel Country music, but I listen to secular Country music as well. It has to be upbeat. Sometimes country music makes me cry. The lyrics are sometimes so real and heartfelt, that I can feel it in my soul. I need an upbeat or a mellow tune that makes me want to drive miles through the country or park in an open field to gaze up at the sky.

Country music also makes me want to cook and invite family over for a good time. I know this may sound cheesy but that's how I feel about it or rather that it makes me feel this way. I often said country music is the go-to for a day of relaxation. A day where you mellow out with your favorite drink and know everything will eventually be well. So why not hip-hop?

Well the question said ONE country song A DAY or nothing but hip-hop for three weeks. It didn't mention once a day for hip-hop. I believe its stating that my playlist for three weeks straight will be hip-hop. That will drive me insane as well as listening to country music for three weeks straight.

I grew up in the hip-hop era. The era where it was popping with relatable life stories, convictions, and messages. Most of the hip-hop songs of yesterday, I remember...verbatim.  The hip-hop culture of today, I can't relate to. Most of these artist out now are speaking on things I barely understand...literally. Either I can't make out what they're saying or I don't understand (like where are they coming from...what's the angle?). And with the amount of patience and tolerance that I have, I have no more left in me trying to decipher whether I understand it or not. I'll just stick to the rivers and lakes that I'm use to at this point.

For three weeks straight, I will have to pull the 80's and 90's...maybe the 2000's early years of hip-hop greatest. Last year, I truly enjoyed celebrating hip-hop birthday of 50 years. When I realized it, I was stunned that hip-hop is a year older than me. 1973 began a new era of music that has been embraced for 50 years...now 51. Of course I would honor hip-hop in some part of my day, however, it cannot be just that for three weeks straight. Maybe a day, but not three weeks.

So that's that. I hope you enjoyed this blog and getting to know me...getting the tea and the cookies. Join me in my next blog post. Make sure to Subscribe to receive updates and new blog post notification. Have an awesome weekend and make sure to do something for you. Much love. Happy Reading.
